社會行政機構或私立社會福利機構，對貧苦、失依、不幸或遭遇其他困難、無力自助之個人或家庭，所提供的經濟援助或其他服務。依《社會救助法》，社會救助可分為生活扶助、醫療補助、急難救助及災害救助。
